I listen to a broad spectrum of music, but I've always liked "folk" music from all parts of the world. The folk song here is actually contemporary but its theme dates back to medieval England. The song is about "Mummers" who are basically actors who used to go around performing mainly a comedy routine at inns, pubs and "large houses" (homes of the rich) and were paid for in tips. Apparently it could be quite lucrative and the practice survived well into the early part of the 20th Century. In recent times it has been revived by interest groups who perform to support local charities as well as to preserve the tradition.
As it turns out, the song about Mummer's by Loreena McKennitt (which is a lovely tune) could, with only a little work, be adapted to work with one of the MMD motion sets. I had actually recorded it before to use as a test bed for the UTAU stage I was working on. However, that was just quickly put together with a mind to cleaning it up and redoing it properly at a later point, and basically this is it. Here it is re-presented; cleaned up, has a new cast and different setting. Seems to work beautifully. Please feel welcomed to check it out.
