MMD Miku don't lose that number ...

This video was done purely for fun. Strange thing though; although I've used motion adapted and modified from an existing motion set, for some odd reason this data doesn't work quite as well with any other models other than the version of Miku used here. It's not a technical glitch, the data transfers just fine to other models. The thing is that it just looks 'right' when Miku is doing this routine.

I suppose that's just Miku for you or maybe it's all that hair? Also perhaps she also has the right "attitude" to pull this one off. Whatever the reason, I think she does a great job with this classic clip from Steely Dan. And yeah, I know the lyrics actually read: "Rikki don't lose that number" but with due deference to Miku I just played with the title a bit - just my sardonic sense of humor at work.

As for the stage setting, this was just put together from various pieces I've made in the past or more recently. The animated billboard at the rear of the set has been released for download, but the rest are still in my private collection as I'm still messing with them. Works quite well visually IMHO, but then again I might be biased.

One of my primary reason for making this clip was to fully test out MMD 9.10 which was only just recently released and I wanted to see how good it is. Suffice to say, I REALLY like this version. It has some great new features. Highly recommended that you upgrade to this version if you have not done so already.

The other reason for making this video clip is because I loved this song ever since I first heard it yonks ago. I've always loved the work of Steely Dan but this one is, as far as I'm concerned, 'definitive' - a little bit rock and a little bit jazz and blended together only as Steely Dan could do it.

I've been wondering for awhile whether or not it would be possible to make an interpretation of this song for MMD. It is a rather quirky piece of music so I thought it might be a bit of a challenge but it wasn't as difficult to do as I first thought. Personally, I could listen to this tune all day ad infinum; but then again, that's probably not a great idea. One can't have too much of a good thing, right? But then again, my SONY VAIO is hooked up to a Creative Lab 20 watt surround sound speaker system ...
