MMD Killing Intent

A character study, this time of IA in a role that she is not usually associated with, but she can be "pretty deadly" (pun intended) when she needs to be.

Mqdl's models (like Saboten's) can be a challenge to shade at times due to their heavy reliance on toon shaders. As it turned out, it was the katana that was harder to work with than IA. In the end to get it to look convincing I had to cheat and redo the blade in Photoshop. Anyway, this was what was done to make this picture:

MME

IA:

• Has its own effect (Furia)

Scene:

• Diffusion 7 (color saturation and some softening)

LIGHTING
From the front (low angle) and slightly from the left side. Color biased towards the red spectrum to enhance background colors.

PHOTOSHOP

Layers:

• base (blur/unsharp mask - removes residual pixelation)
• sword (gradient overlay applied to blade to make it look more convincing)
• brightness/constrast (applied to first two layers only)
• color balance (applied to first two layers only - taking some of the yellow out of IA's hair)
• blur (gaussian blur overlay to soften the image overall)
• levels (increase background shadow depth)
• curves (final color corrections)
