When George Lucas created the movie Star Wars, at that point in time nothing like that had ever been done. To get it done he had to leverage the incredible talents of the staff of Industrial Light and Magic, Inc. and a substantial part of that movie's budget.
That was like almost 40 years ago (scary thought). Nowadays, you can almost do the same thing on a single decent PC at a cost that's literally "nickels and dimes" on a piece of software that's free. True the models themselves are the combined efforts of several groups of people, but still, it's a lot easier to build a single battle class star cruiser in a 3D application than building a scaled down replica ~ BTW, did you know I could do that too?
Well anyway one simple video with almost theatrical effects put together in a single afternoon on a single PC ... Rin's got her own galactic battlecruiser ^^
